What To Do While in London

Where do I even begin? We typically spend 2-3 days in different cities and find that to be plenty of time. Well that was not the case for the beautiful city of London. We spent four days in London and that was not nearly enough time. I think in order to see all that the city has to offer you'd need at least a month. During this trip Rob and I had our first US visitor, my college bestie, Sarah. This made our trip even that much more special. We were so excited to be able to share the past two weeks with her and show her around some awesome places in Europe.

Where we stayed- We stayed at Club Quarters, Lincoln Inn in the Holborn neighborhood. For any of you considering a trip to London, I'd definitely recommend researching all the different neighborhoods to find the best one that fits your specific needs. London is so big and each neighborhood has a lot much to offer. Our hotel in Holborn was a two minute walk to the Piccadilly line [underground tube where we spent most of our time] and a ten minute walk to Covent Garden.

What To Do in London

Visit the Buckingham Palace
- This was everything. It was intriguing to be able to see a palace that holds so much history and royalty. The flag was flying that day which meant the Queen was home.  Right outside of the Buckingham Palace was my very own, "Victoria Memorial" monument. It is safe to say I was right at home.

Covent Garden- Is there anything you can't find in the Covent Garden? They have shopping, restaurants, bars, live performers, the famous red telephone booths, flowers everywhere, and much more. There is so much to do and see here. We visited to Covent Garden at least once a day on our trip to explore a little more of the area.

Explore the British Museum- I couldn't believe this museum was free! You could spend all day here, there was so much to see and they offered all sorts of tours with several start time options. Just a tip: I would leave any backpacks or large purses at the hotel when visiting this museum. If you arrive with a bag you're placed in an extremely long line for security purposes.

Watch Football at Famous Three Kings- One of the days we were in London was the end of the premiere league which meant a good day to head somewhere with plenty of TV's. We were recommended Famous Three Kings from a few different people and we had so much fun. We spent the day in West Kensington with all the locals cheering on their favorite soccer teams.

Walk Across Tower Bridge- This is one of London's famous bridges and a must see landmark. This is free to do and very fun to experience. There are many good restaurant options nearby and the Borough market is about a 15 minute walk.

Where To Dine in London

Dishoom- A friend who previously lived in London recommended this Indian restaurant and it is definitely a must have. We arrived around 9pm on a Sunday and there was a line out of the door, that is when you know it's good! Not to mention the atmosphere was both romantic and modern. Since moving abroad I haven't found my go to restaurant for "spicy food" but this place fulfilled my cravings.

All Bar One- I feel like every neighborhood we visited had an All Bar One restaurant on its corner. Every time we passed one it was always crowded with people. There was one a few steps away from our hotel so we stopped here for breakfast one morning. Their lattes are delicious and I really enjoyed their avocado toast.

The Churchill Arms- My favorite bar! The exterior is amazing and the interior is just as cool. We enjoyed Fuller's beer and interestingly enough, Thai food. We were so hungry and expected this place to have the traditional bar food but much to our surprise, they had a sit-down Thai restaurant. The food was tasty, I recommend the Pad Thai.

Coppa Club- I waited online for 30 minutes to reserve an igloo at this paradise beach themed restaurant. The only time I could get a reservation was for Monday morning. I would not recommend their breakfast as it was extremely small portions with not much flavor, but I must say the atmosphere does make up for it. I would like to try it again for appetizers or lunch. The Coppa Club feels like you step inside your own little oasis with beautiful views of the London Bridge. Regardless of their food, I would definitely recommend stopping by to check out the igloos.

I wish we could have stayed for at least a week! We had the best time exploring London and left with so much more we would have liked to do. Some of the things we'd like to see next time is the Borough Market, Japanese neighborhood to try the bubble waffles, tour the Churchill War Rooms, check out Belgravia neighborhood, and so much more. Another trip to London one day to check off a few more things on our list will be happening. If you plan on visiting London soon, let me know if you check any of these places out! Or if you have any suggestions for our next visit to London that I haven't mentioned yet feel free to comment below.
