What happened when we landed in Chicago?

We are back in the USA and officially out of 14 day quarantine recommended by the CDC! Woooo!

If you're wondering why we moved home, be sure to read THIS BLOG POST where I share why we made the decision to move home from Germany and the timeline of how quickly it happened.

So, what happened when landed in Chicago?

We arrived at Chicago O'Hare where our flight was the only one in Terminal 5 (International terminal). We have flown into Terminal 5 many, many times and there's usually hour long lines with people entering the country, but this time it was completely empty. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves and keeping their distance in the customs line. After going through customs, we then had to go through the CDC line to be screened for the Corona-virus. Thankfully, neither of us had any symptoms so we were passed through to the next line to get our temperatures taken. After having no fevers, we picked up our seven luggages and were home free!

The  Temporary Apartment
Prior to COVID-19, we would've been given a 'Look & See Trip' back to the states about a month before we officially moved home. The look & see trip would be a time to find a place to live, re-open accounts, buy cars, etc. Since our move home was unexpected and happened within four days, that was not possible. Therefore, we had nothing set up back home! Rob's company arranged for a furnished apartment in Naperville for us to stay while we get settled in back home for the next month. We couldn't be more thankful to have the support, a cozy apartment and to be home safe & sound!

Apartment & Job Hunting
We're currently looking for an apartment in the Chicago suburbs! We are leaning towards one place in particular and we're so excited about it! I will definitely share more in the upcoming weeks. HELLO home decor 😍

On top of all of these changes, I am also job hunting! I am currently finishing my contract with my employer in Germany until the end of May, which I am so happy to be able to be doing. I really enjoyed my job and wasn't ready to leave it so suddenly. End of May will be approaching quickly but I know I may have some difficulties with all that's going on in the world.

Lots and lots going on over here! Cannot wait to keep sharing with you :)

Hope you're staying safe! XO
