An Autumn Book Review

I am SO excited to be writing this blog post. There have been so many positive changes that entered my life when I moved abroad and one of those was finally finding my hobbies, one of which is reading! Believe it or not but while I was living back home I struggled to find hobbies. [BTW let me know if a blog post on 'How To Find Your Hobby' is something you'd be interested in reading about] Anyway, today I'm sharing three books with you all that I have recently read and loved.

Feel free to comment below or message me with book recommendations! I'd love to hear!

1. Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
A story about a girl, Kya Clark otherwise known as "Marsh-Girl" is a suspect in a murder case. The book is not only a murder mystery but also a love story. The book takes you back to when Kya was just a child, when her mom and siblings all left her one by one to escape their abusive and alcoholic husband/father. Kya is too young to leave so she's left growing up completely on her own in the marsh along the North Carolina coast, all while being judged and bullied by the entire town. The authors writing captured my attention from the very beginning. I had the most vivid picture of every location throughout the entire book. You feel all sorts of emotions while reading this one- happy, sad, stressed, angry, everything. This book only took me two days to finish. I was completely hooked and I HIGHLY recommend it.

2. An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
Jessica Farris, a struggling makeup artist living in NYC signs up to participate in a paid research study on ethics and morality. The study is conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields. Jessica thinks that study will be a way to make quick cash, but as the study goes on Jessica finds herself questioning everything she's ever known. Eventually, the relationship between Jessica and Dr. Shields moves from computer to real life. Jessica soon begins to become manipulated by Dr. Shield's strange requests. This book is filled with twist and turns, obsession, jealousy and betrayal- such a good read.

3. The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
This book is told in the perspective of two women, Amber Patterson and Daphne Parrish. Amber Patterson comes from a small town where she was a "nobody" and is completely obsessed with the idea of living a rich and lavish lifestyle. She wants to have more than what she grew up with. Daphne Parrish is an extremely wealthy socialite and philanthropist, who's married to the handsome Jackson Parrish. Their life in Bishops Harbor, Connecticut seems dreamy. They have the big house, cars, boats, two daughters, all the expensive clothes and jewelry. Everything from the outside seems perfect and that's just what Amber wants. Amber creates a plan to make it all hers. There are so many plot twists and the ending definitely surprised me.

  1. Hey Victoria!

Love this post, thank you for the recs. I'm def gonna go buy Where the Crawdads Sing. I've heard so many people talk about how powerful that one is. It's cool that it's more of story, but there's still a good lesson behind it. I felt the same way about the Alchemist. That's another one that is more of a fiction story, but has a really good life lesson/message behind it.

Anyway girl, thanks for the recs! I'll be sharing this on my FB page. My friends love hearing about good books and ways to grow and be a better person!

    xo, Alyssa
